We had the opportunity to travel back to Naperville and share in the

the 2D and 3D classes were inspired by using the fiber and it was a
great priviledge for us to see the trasformation of the fiber into
beautiful pieces.

The on Nov. 19, 2007, Illinois Green Pastures Fiber Co-Op visited the
students at the Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences in
Chicago to encourage the ag sciences class to add value to their
sheep's wool. The magnet school, home to about 600 kids, also houses
the one of the state's largest Future Farmers of America (FFA)
chapters and a diverse sampling of agricultural practices, including
floriculture, aquaculture and hydroponics. The class was excited to
learn what could be done with their wool to add more value to it, and

Jane Patrick and Barry Schacht’s visit to Esther’s Place
was a grand success! On October 13th, 2006, fiber enthusiasts were invited to a presentation
and book signing with these two wonderful fiber artists. Owners of Schacht
Spindle Company, of Boulder, CO, they told their tale of thirty-seven years
with wood, wheels and fiber. Weaving in fun jokes as well as encouraging advice,
their warm and friendly personality was an inspiration to all. Showcasing projects
from her latest book, Time to Weave, Simply Elegant Projects to make in
almost no time, Jane shared her formula for creativity as she showed
us the many steps she took in taking a “concept” to “concrete”. Barry
told us of his beginnings in the fiber arts world, and how they operate their
business based on beauty of natural materials and superb functionality of the
products. All who came enjoyed this opportunity to talk with two of the world’s
foremost leaders in the fiber arts industry.
Guests that day also enjoyed a spread of hor dourves from Upper Crust Catering
in Yorkville, Just Desserts by Becky, in Elburn and Thai Spice, in Aurora. A
beautiful door prize, valued over fifty dollars, was given away, as well. Signed
copies of Time to Weave are still available at Esther’s Place.
