This Distaff Day (January 7, 2026), Cyndy and I celebrate the fourth anniversary of acquiring our first spinning wheels. We are amazed at the community of fiber artists who have participated in our Sheep Shed adventures! To commemorate our journey down this fiber arts rabbit hole, join us for another beautiful day of spinning and socializing on Saturday, January 10th, from 9:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., in the Founders Room at the Batavia Public Library in Batavia, IL. All types of wheels, spindles and e-spinners are welcome as well as those practicing fiber arts of any other type. Have you never spun before? We are happy to introduce you to spinning wool on a drop spindle. For those who are simply curious, expect to see people spinning wool and other fibers on spinning wheels dating from the 1800's to the present.
A spot will be provided for Wanted/For Sale notices for fiber arts equipment and related supplies (note that the Library will not allow sales to be made on-site). Fiber-related business cards and event announcements can also be posted.
Participants can bring a sack lunch if desired. We know there will be a few of us who order from, or step out to, Everdine's Grilled Cheese Co., https://www.everdines.com/ which is just around the corner from the Library. Yum!
Keep checking back for more details as the event date approaches. This event is free. All fiber arts are welcome.
(Hosted by our two close spinning friends, Roxanne and Cyndy. Esther’s Place will be there in the morning to join the fun. )
